Abstract
This paper discusses the interfaces between foreign language teaching and testing with a focus on reading in order to present a reflection on some pedagogical applications. It also highlights the importance of theoretical principles to test design. It further calls into question the potential washback effects of the testing of reading on teaching and learning practice.
