Resumo da Biografia Our Methodology

One of the benefits of having a huge service department is data collection. We will be in approximately 130-150 homes today fixing appliances, with a good portion being less than a year old and under warranty.

That is 650 homes per week (at least) or roughly 34,000 calls yearly (not including homes with multiple calls). That’s the math behind this post.  It is sales generated versus warranty service calls within year.

Although the mix is more weighted with dishwashers, cooking and less featured refrigerators, Frigidaire is still one of the most reliable brands in every product group. Unlike in years past, this does not include Pro and Gallery which need almost 20% service within the first year.

Given the number of complaints on the internet, you would not expect LG to be so high on this list. 5% is pretty good for a brand even weighted towards laundry.

If you eat lots of frozen food

This reliable, affordable GE side-by-side is a great option for people who eat more frozen food and prefer an organized freezer layout.

Although side-by-side fridges aren’t as popular as French door fridges, we think the 36-inch stainless steel GE GSS25GSHSS is the best option for people who often eat out of the freezer: Its shelves keep foods more organized than the bucket-type drawers found on French door freezers, and put more of those foods at eye level. At 25.cubic feet, the GSS25GSHSS has plenty of usable space, but it’s constrained by the smaller horizontal space inherent in side-by-side fridges (so no wide sheet pans or pizza boxes). Still, this is a dependable, well-priced fridge with great ratings and a solid track record.

Experts and owners agree, the LG LTCS24223S is a great choice for a family who needs a LOT of fridge and freezer space. At 23.cubic feet with plenty of organizational options, it might be a better choice for larger families than even a French-door style. It also gets good scores in professional tests for its consistent temperatures and excellent energy efficiency. Users agree, and also give it high marks for its quiet performance, attractive appearance, and generous capacity. It comes in four colors.

LG LDC24223S

The sibling of our Best Reviewed top-freezer fridge, the 2cubic foot LG LDC24223S gets kudos from both experts and owners for its stellar performance at a pretty good price for a bottom freezer refrigerator. In testing it's a top performer in both temperature control and consistency. Shelves are not adjustable, but there's a good selection of built-in storage options and it includes a built-in ice maker. LG LDC24223S earns top scores where it counts, with terrific performance, low noise and great energy efficiency.

The 27.8-cu. ft. GE Café CFE28TSHSS does something no other fridge in our report can do: It dispenses hot as well as cold water. Even better, and certainly more important, performance is near perfect, experts say. Reviewers also give a thumbs up to this fridge's attractive exterior and its functional and flexible interior. Other plusses include LED lighting, an integrated icemaker, filtration to improve the quality of your drinking water, and quick returns to the proper temperature after the door is closed. It's also Energy Star certified.

These attractive bottom-freezer appliances feature a full-width refrigerator compartment with a pair of side-by-side doors, instead of one large door. That design lets you open just one side of the fridge so less cool air escapes while still providing space for wider items such as sheet cakes and pizza boxes. French-door models are the priciest refrigerators overall; however, they provide a lot of machine for the money. Many fridges of this type also include through-the-door ice and water dispensers. The bottom freezer is often a full-width pull-out drawer, but some French-door refrigerators have four doors, splitting the freezer section into two independent compartments. Some models also have an extra pull-out drawer between the refrigerator and freezer section for frequently-used items, like deli meats.

Counter-Depth Refrigerators

Specially designed so that they don't protrude beyond the edges of cabinets and countertops, these come in side-by-side, bottom freezer and French-door styles, although only French door models get good enough ratings and reviews from both experts and owners for us to recommend them. Some models accept panels that match your cabinets so they seem to almost disappear in your kitchen. Counter-depth fridges create a streamlined look, but are generally the priciest type of refrigerator overall.

This refrigerator has a great temperature consistency and doesn’t get affected by external temperature changes that could affect the fridge internally. However, its compressor works almost always and that can get really noisy and consume a lot of energy and be inefficient.

Whirlpool WRS321CDBM

This Side-by-Side stainless steel refrigerator has a wonderful temperature system that maintains food in a perfect state at all times. It has a great temperature sensor that changes the temp of the inside by adapting it to the one on the outside and activating its compressor when it gets too hot.
