Abstract

This work concerns the way social relations are constructed, reproduced and transformed in institutional discursive contexts during the Educational Strike Movement in Pernambuco (1987-1990). A description of quanti-qualitative data illustrates different enunciation positions in the dialogic relations established in the interlocutional space of institutional discourses of the social actors involved (Government, Media and Syndicate), in relation to the words people, population, and popular, in a spatio-temporal perspective of a historical discursive memory, indicating to what extent discourse practices, being the materialization of class interests, are the privileged locus of production, reproduction and transformation of social relations.
