Abstract

Through this PhD thesis, we aim to explore the applicability of artificial intelligence as a tool for risk classification in international reinsurance contracts, contributing not only to the development of a solid theoretical foundation for International Law, Digital Law, and Insurance Law, but also by proposing practical solutions to the legal, regulatory, and ethical challenges associated with the topic.

Author Biography

Gustavo Amado León, Pontifícia Universidade Católica - PUC-SP, São Paulo, SP

Doctor of Law from PUC-SP. Professor and Coordinator of the School of Business and Insurance in Postgraduate and Extension courses related to Insurance and Reinsurance Law. Law Professor at Ítalo. Professor at the Higher School of Advocacy of the OAB-SP (São Paulo Bar Association). Visiting Professor at FGV in Insurance and Reinsurance. Professor at AJURIS and FMP in Rio Grande do Sul. Works in the insurance and reinsurance market, interacting with insurers, reinsurers, brokers and other stakeholders, especially in Brazil, Latin America and international companies. Experience in regulatory aspects of insurance and reinsurance, providing regulatory support on mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring operations in Brazil and Latin America, structuring and negotiating insurance and reinsurance contracts, advising and defending clients before SUSEP (Superintendence of Private Insurance), experience with local, admitted and occasional reinsurers. Experience in claims settlement and litigation for insurance and reinsurance, including arbitration, as well as preparation and adaptation of general insurance terms and conditions and drafting of reinsurance contracts in accordance with international practices and customs.
