Este artigo analisa a relação entre o uso de dados pessoais e as tecnologias de inteligência artificial (IA) em certos países relevantes para o estudo, destacando seus desenvolvimentos históricos e desafios regulatórios. O uso de dados pessoais inicialmente focou na privacidade e evoluiu para a proteção de dados, enquanto a IA, surgida no século XX, ganhou relevância comercial de forma mais abrangente a partir da década de 1990, exigindo amplo processamento de dados e gerando tanto benefícios quanto riscos. No Brasil, a Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados Pessoais (LGPD) estabeleceu um marco jurídico, mas a regulamentação da IA ainda está em discussão, buscando equilibrar inovação com direitos fundamentais e segurança jurídica.
