Abstract

This paper reports a case of one of the most severe forms of acute pancreatitis, the necrotizing pancreatitis. In this condition, the patient is a fine line between a good outcome and poor general condition, with high mortality. The patient was admitted to hospital with severe pain in the upper abdomen. In CT scan, signs suggestive of pancreatitis with necrosis were found, being clinically treated for seven days. After radiological maintenance of the condition, the patient underwent an exploratory laparotomy with necrosectomy and placement of drainage. Patient got good clinical thconditions and was discharged on the 17 day of hospitalization.
