Keywords:

ABSTRACT Infection of the uterine scar after a cesarean section is rare, however associated to increased maternal morbidity. Hysterectomy has been suggested as the safest option for treating this type of injury. This case concerns a woman with a large abscess in the lowest edge of a previous cesarean incision scar performed four years ago. The patient was asymptomatic and purulent content was only discovered during the opening of the cavity during child-birth. Ultrasound examinations performed in the prenatal period showed no changes. Delivery was carried out by a cesarean section and it was not necessary to perform a hysterectomy.Downloads
