ABSTRACT Acute pulmonary thromboembolism is a relatively common and potentially fatal clinical condition though reversible in many cases. The nonspecific clinical symptoms and the delay to diagnose are important risk factors associated with the increase of its mortality. Using scores can help on classifying the patient and selecting subsidiarie tests. Treatment must be individualized, evaluating the clinical status and balancing risk and benefits of each therapeutic strategy.Downloads
