ABSTRACT Behcet's syndrome is a multisystemic vasculitis of unknown cause clinically characterized by a classic triad of recurrent genital and oral ulcers, associated with ocular disease (uveitis). Male and females are equally affected, but males often develop a more severe disease. Arterial involvement is rare, characterized by thrombosis and aneurysms that may occur in up to 12% of the cases. This study reports a case of Behcet's syndrome with involvement of the innominate artery, causing partial extrinsic obstruction of the trachea confirmed by computerized tomography. Laboratory tests showed an unspecific inflammation pattern, such as mild leukocytosis, and increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C reactive protein and immunoglobulin G. The patient underwent surgery in order to remove the aneurysm, followed by immunosuppressive therapy which resulted in good clinical outcome.Metrics
