Atletico Madrid finished with a flourish, scoring twice late on goals from stars Joao Felix and Diego Costa to lead the Spanish giant to a 3-0 win over the Major League Soccer All-Stars in the 2019 MLS All-Star Game Wednesday night in Orlando.

Atletico Madrid, who open La Liga regular-season play Aug. 18, didn't hold back their top players in what was essentially a friendly for Diego Simeone's side.

The All-Stars had some chances, including when Wayne Rooney of D.C. United just missed over the crossbar in the 26th minute. In the second half, Nicolas Lodeiro of the Seattle Sounders was denied on the doorstep, and Gonzalo Martinez of Atlanta United was close, as was teammate Ezequiel Barco on a free kick in the 80th.

Bastian Schweinsteiger, who won the 2014 World Cup with Germany and now stars for the Chicago Fire, missed a shot wide in the 81st minute.

The game at Exploria Stadium, home of Orlando City SC of MLS, was delayed about 30 minutes due to inclement weather. Rain fell throughout the match.

Marcos Llorente beat MLS goalkeeper Andre Blake in the 43rd minute, making a run and finishing off a back-heel through-ball from teammate Rodrigo Riquelme to give Atletico Madrid a 1-0 lead.

Llorente was named the game's most valuable player.

The MLS All-Stars haven't won an All-Star Game since 2015, a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur. They lost each of the last two years on penalties, to Real Madrid in 2017 and camisetas de futbol 2020 to Juventus in 2018.

The MLS side used three goalkeepers, with Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando -- who plans to retire after the season -- entering in the 59th minute and finishing the game.

Rimando couldn't stop Felix's knuckling blast from finding the net in the 86th minute. Felix, a 19-year-old forward from Portugal who signed with Atletico Madrid for a club-record $126 million euros, is regarded as the next superstar from that country.

Costa muscled his way through Schweinsteiger for the final goal of the night three minutes into second-half stoppage time. Costa, from Brazil, scored four goals in Atletico Madrid's 7-3 rout of arch-rival Real Madrid in a friendly on July 26 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
