What happens to “creativity” when writing passes through automatism ? This issue will be explored first in French surrealism, then in relation with cybernetics, where creativity becomes a faculty of both human beings and machines, and finally in the context of deep learning techniques. There are today many techniques and practices that develop forms of automatic writing in which textual production and programmed regulation are mixed. How to account for the fact that some stochastic processes may generate “creative” results ?
