EDITORIAL

It is with great satisfaction that the Center for Pragmatism Studies offers to the public the second issue of 2016 of COGNITIO-ESTUDOS: Electronic Journal of Philosophy. With this issue, we close the thirteen volume of this prestigious journal that seeks, since its foundation, to contribute to the in-depth studies of Pragmatism and also of philosophical currents and related themes.

The thematic wealth of this 13.2 volume is a demonstration of the comprehensiveness and seriousness of the journal's editorial policy, which seeks to stimulate research and multidisciplinary dialogue at national and international levels, thus fulfilling its academic mission. In this spirit, the present edition of the journal offers to the reader eleven articles, one translation and one review, exploring interpretive nuances based on rigorous and original analyzes.

Six of the eleven articles focus on the pragmatism of the American philosopher Charles Sanders Peirce, who is richly explored in thoughtful and suggestive reflections on the various sciences and doctrines of his theoretical framework, such as Objective Idealism, Normative Science, Philosophy of Religion, Perception and Sign theories, as well as on important, but sometimes neglected dialogical possibilities between his philosophy and the works of other authors of the history of ideas, such as Lacan and Uexküll. Three articles are dedicated, in particular, to reflect on the heuristic possibilities present, like "seeds", in Peirce's philosophy, allowing us to think of an innovative Philosophy of Art, study strand pioneered by the Editor of the journal and Director of the Center for Pragmatism Studies, Professor Ivo Assad Ibri.

Keeping the journal's tradition of dialogue with the History of Philosophy, the other five articles in this issue of COGNITIO-ESTUDOS bring analyzes of topics directly linked to currents such as Philosophy of Mind, Biosemiotics, Ethics, Logic, Epistemology and Education, with studies on important thinkers such as Alan Turing, John Searle, Richard Joyce, Frege, William of Ockham, Adorno, Marcuse, among others.

This volume is completed by an unpublished translation of Matthew Boyle's article, Essentially Rational Animals, and a carefully developed review of the book Pragmatismo y Educación: Charles S. Peirce y John Dewey en las aulas [Pragmatism and Education: Charles s. Peirce and John Dewey in the classroom], by Sara Barrena.

We hope that the reader can take full advantage of the analyzes and reflections provided by the articles of this issue.
