EDITORIAL

Dear reader,

With the commitment to delve into intriguing themes of philosophic thought, in its myriad interfaces, the present edition of COGNITIO- ESTUDOS: Revista Eletrônica de Filosofia is quite polyphonic, while preserving the philosophical principle of the different epistemological and hermeneutic approaches.

At the core of this comprehension, Renan Baggio offers, in a compelling and curious way, relevant contributions from Charles Sanders Peirce on logic and nature, presenting his vanguardism, alongside exemplary thinkers like Frege and Russell. In fine tuning with this theoretical field of research, Lucrécia D'Alessio Ferrara commences with a text from Peirce in order to to comprehend possible relations between the social dimension of knowledge, triadic logic and cognitive production. Thus, Pablo Fernando Campos Pimentel presents the political skepticism and anti-rationalism of authors from the tradition of the English language, referring to Edmund Burke, in an intricate debate between the politics of faith and the politics of skepticism. In turn, Júlio César D'Oliveira presents the importance of recuperating juridical hermeneutics, using a semiotic approach, as something indispensable for the debate on norms and jurisdictions in contemporary society. In an interesting interface, Anderson Alves Esteves seeks to contextualize and analyze the pendular movement of the philosophical discipline and the recent and worrying reforms of Brazilian governments in ignoring the importance of philosophy in the formation of critical thinking. In this perspective, Francisco Jozivan Guedes de Lima discusses in his text the questions on Technocracy and Depoliticization of the public sphere in the context of Habermas' thought. Laura Elizia Haubert discusses the delicate relationship between everyday experience and esthetic experience in John Dewey. The horizon presented by André Neiva, on the Frequentist Interpretation of Probability, provides a critical exam of the frequentist theory of probability, whose conclusion is that frequentism does not offer a satisfactory analysis of the concept of physical probability. In turn, Jesuino Junior Pires, based on the postulates of Twardwski, proposes a distinction between act, content and object. Herado Aparecido Silva problematizes the thought of Richard Rorty, evidencing the use of ad hoc techniques in his philosophical approach, working from the idea of a concept toolbox. Laura Elizia Haubert presents the translation of an original text of George Santayana, the chief elements of Santayana's esthetics, especially his refusal to reduce esthetics to an academic discipline. Finally, Rogério Lopes do Santos presents a Review of : El sábio camino hacia la felicidade: Diógenes de ENoanda y el Gran Mural de Epicúreo, translated by Carlos Garcia Gual. This work seeks to bring to the fore the teachings of Epicurus graffitied on a large wall of the ancient city of Enoanda (in the region of Turkey) in the II century a.d.

We wish our readers a fruitful reflection of the texts presented in this edition; may they keep the philosophical tradition alive in its unsettling art of seeking in thought the genuine and analytical roots of modern questions.
