Abstract

Nostra Aetate, the Declaration on the Relations of the Church to NonChristian Religions, was solemnly voted and approved by the Fathers ofSecond Vatican Concil on 28 October 1965. It was perhaps a surprise result.After Blessed John XXIII convoked teh Concil, a preliminary questionnairewas sent out to the Local Churches, but very few bishops mentioned thetopic of other religions in their responses, and no draft schema was preparedon this topic.
