Abstract

The search aims to understand two events that took place in de first quinquennium of the 70’s decade, in Natividade da Serra City: the creation and performing of the first four years of the Secondary School. It happened almost simultaneously to the flood that invaded great part of the rural territory and the entire city, caused by a dam construction over the Paraibuna and Paraitinga rivers. This flood provoked the vanish of the town, its head office, many rural sites, schools and the best lands of the municipal district, located in cultivated plains, damaging the agriculture and cattle raising. Even with de construction of the new “city”, it caused an exodus of many citizens and also the emptying of the Secondary School Course, recently created due to the great number of transferences to other cities of the region. This work search for the recovering of history of these two events, since there are no files recorded in the city, except in school documents and in the citizens’ memories.
