Toys and its sound level
Abstract
Noisy toys frequently used by children with the objective of simulating real life situations produce high sound levels. After analyzing toys normally available – 27 were tested at DERDIC, PUCSP – aiming at determining the sound levels produced by them. These varied from a minimum of 76 dBA to a maximum of 133 dBA, which confirms results found in the international literature. Findings reveal that toys may cause noise induced hearing loss. The need for a preventive attitude towards such toys becomes apparent.
