The velopharyngeal sphincter

Abstract

The author describes the morphology and physiology of the velopharyngeal sphincter and the etiology and symptomatology of the velopharyngeal insufficiency. He points to the importance of the diagnostic with endoscopy, X rays and aerodynamic techniques, for the appropriate selection of the therapeutic procedure.
