A survey of the hearing impaired population from a shool-clinic of the east side of the city of São Paulo: from suspiction to rehabilitation
Abstract
This research was developed from data out of 96 forms of hearing impaired individuals, from a school-clinic of the east side of the city of Sao Paulo, from July 1992 to May 1994. Its aim was to observe the interval between suspecting and beginning the rehabilitation process. The results showed that the beginning of the diagnostic process was far too late, and the assistance provided was precarious. This leads to a questioning of the situation and to the search for changes in terms of reducing the distance in time between these processes, providing benefits both for the hearing impaired individuals and their families.Downloads
