Abstract

Auditory processing disorders may be defined as an auditory dysfunction that refers to difficulties in processing the acoustic speech signal (Pereira, 1997). The auditory processing represents an important part in the development of speech and language and the auditory processes involved in the central processing may contribute to learning disabilities. The present study discusses the importance of the diagnosis of auditory dysfunction, mainly in the cases with speech disabilities.
