Memory workshops for groups of older adults
An integrative literature review

This study aimed to verify the benefits of group workshops for older people based on an integrative literature review. The articles were searched in the databases of PubMed, LILACS, and SciELO through the Virtual Health Library (VHL), published between 2016 and 2025, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, without restrictions on location. The health science descriptors (elderly) and (memory) and (memory training) were used to select the studies. The review selected 12 articles, whose memory stimulation sessions took 60 to 120 minutes and lasted 4 to 24 weeks. The participants’ ages ranged from 60 to 82 years; only one article addressed people over 80 years old. The predominant education level among older people in these studies was higher education. Cognitive training helps participants with cognitive functions, such as memory and attention, as well as executive functions and emotional benefits, such as increased confidence and self-esteem.
