LEITURA E INTERPRETAÇÃO DE GRÁFICOS ESTATÍSTICOS POR ALUNOS DO 9º ANO DE ESCOLARIDADE.

Resumen

No presente artigo estuda-se o desempenho de alunos do 9º ano de escolaridade na leitura e interpretação de gráficos estatísticos, enfatizando-se o nível de conclusões que os alunos extraem dos gráficos e os erros e dificuldades que revelam. No estudo participaram 108 alunos do 9º ano, a quem foram aplicadas três tarefas envolvendo a leitura e interpretação de gráficos estatísticos. Em termos de resultados, na globalidade das tarefas verificou-se um fraco desempenho dos alunos e na análise das respostas a partir dos níveis de leitura e interpretação de gráficos de Curcio (1989) verificou-se que no nível “ler os dados” quase todos os alunos responderam correctamente, enquanto nos níveis “ler entre os dados” e “ler além dos dados” apenas cerca de 1/3 dos alunos ou menos respondeu correctamente. Abstract In this paper we study the performance of 9th grade students in reading and interpretation of statistical graphs, emphasizing the level of conclusions that students draw from the graphs and the mistakes and difficulties that they show. In the study participated 108 students of the 9th grade, to who were applied three tasks involving the reading and interpretation of statistical graphs. In terms of results, there was a poor student performance in the overall tasks and the analysis of responses through the Curcio(1989)’s levels of reading and interpreting graphs found that at the level "reading data" the most students answered correctly, while at the levels "reading between the data" and "reading beyond the data" only about one third or less of the students answered correctly.
