Abstract

This article aims to analyze the early poetic production of João Cabral de Melo Neto, noting how, especially in A pedra do sono and Os três mal amados, the poet converses with Carlos Drummond de Andrade in order to configure a own poetry diction, which sought to assimilate the achievements of Modernism, while it was moving away.
