Abstract

In this interview, Alexandre Rampazo, writer, illustrator and designer, dwells on the materiality of the book as an important narrative element, and highlights the power the object-book has to break the “fourth wall” and to include the reader in the reading experience. While showing some of his work, Rampazo expatiates on his process of creation and on a rereading of the classics as an intensification of the narrative experience.

Alexandre Rampazo was born in São Paulo, took a degree in Design, and has been an arts diretor; he is a graphic artist and author, having written and illustrated various books in Brazil, Latin America and Europe, and received important literary awards such as the Prêmio Jabuti and Prêmio Fundação Nacional do Livro Infantil e Juvenil.
