The explicit use of the verbal interaction is the hallmark of the research method called focus group. However, recent researches indicate an apparent disconnection between theory and analysis on the interaction of participants. This paper aims at presenting the new debates on how the interactions between the participants should be analyzed, highlighting the integration of non-verbal communication to the process of data analysis, and emphasizing the importance that the focus group method has in the researches investigating language within Linguistics, more specifically within Applied Linguistics.Downloads
