Abstract

In this work, we reflect on the contribution of gamification elements in teaching and learning process of reading in Portuguese Language. We assume that, through a gamificated organization, the development of a meaningful learning is fostered, creating a virtual reality in which it is possible to act, to personify, to architect, to weave and to unveil senses.
We base our studies on reading and gamification and illustrate our reflections in activities of a subject that deals with learning through digital information and communication technologies, designed for first year students of an undergraduate degree in Language and Literature.
We have verified that, in fact, elements of games universe can be used by Portuguese teachers for the development of reading competence.
