EDUCAÇÃO COM BILINGÜISMO PARA CRIANÇAS SURDAS
Abstract
This paper aims at presenting a project for the teaching of deaf children, a project which is being implemented at the National Institute for the Education of the Deaf, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the expertise of the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro researchers in Psycholinguistics and Education. The project methodology is based on bilingual teaching, taking Brazilian Sign Language as native language and Portuguese Language as second language. Thus, through the use of Sign Language, we provide the deaf child with a means of communication that can be learned easily and quickly, preserving, through this language, the natural means for cognitive support. The acquisition of the Portuguese Language comes as a second stage, and observes the theoretical premises of a subordinate bilingualism.Downloads
