Abstract

This paper aims to characterize the Skoob reviewers as members of a genuine discursive community. Its theoretical framework brings concepts postulated by Swales (1990; 1992) and by the disclosers of his ideas. Data were constructed on a literary social media, the Skoob, based on an ethnographical experience, which allowed an immersive participation in the interactions of that human grouping. Two meaningful outcomes result from the data analytical exercise: it is possible not only to claim a discursive community status for Skoob reviewers, but also to demonstrate the adaptability of the theoretical statements of Swales taking in consideration the digital environments.
