INDETERMINAÇÃO E CONTRADIÇÃO: UM CASO DE CONFLITO DE PAPÉIS SOCIAIS

Resumen

It has been argued that semantically indetermined words are linked to contradictions. In this sense, it is necessary to find a rule that retrieves coherence in these words usage. It is argued here that this rule is pragmatic, rather than semantics, and that it works as an implicature. This implicature is usually applied if the interactants are cooperative. However, as far as a social roles conflict arises, the implicature can be canceled and the contradiction in indetermined word usage strongly reappears.
