Abstract

The dependence and functional disability of an elderly member of a family can cause changes in the dynamics and in the life cycle of the family, which presents situations never before experienced. The systemic look at the family allows health professionals to understand this inter-related system, which contributes to a complete and comprehensive care of the elderly and their families. This paper presents a theoretical reflection of the knowledge of authors who address this theme.

Membro da Linha de Pesquisa: Família em seu ciclo vital e do Projeto de pesquisa e extensão Núcleo Interdisciplinar de Estudos e Extensão em Cuidados à Saúde da Família em Convibilidade com Doenças Crônicas – NIEFAM/UESB.

Professora Adjunta do Curso de Enfermagem. Doutora em Enfermagem PEN/UFSC. Docente do DS/UESB e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Enfermagem e Saúde PPGES-UESB.
