Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to analyse the thought of Rio de Janeiro’s political scientist Hélio Jaguaribe at Iseb — Higher Institute of Brazilian Studies, in his national-developmental phase (corresponding to Juscelino Kubitschek’s government), as well as his period of “post-Isebian” production, in relation to the positioning towards the 1964 coup d’état. Thus, we intend to demonstrate Hélio Jaguaribe’s nationalist utopia, identifying its class perspective and some paradoxical aspects of his discourse.
