Aggregated data, hidden realities: challenges in the analysis of obesogenic environments
Keywords:
Urban health, Obesity, Space syntaxAbstract
The article explores the challenges of census data in analyzing obesogenic environments, highlighting how data aggregation can conceal spatial and social disparities. Using a computational model in ArcGIS®, the study investigates obesogenicity in a neighborhood in Belo Horizonte, demonstrating how geospatial techniques can reveal patterns hidden by conventional statistics. The results emphasize the need for more detailed approaches to understanding urban dynamics related to public health, contributing to more effective urban planning and health promotion policies.
