Documentos da nossa barbárie: a mídia e os valores do nosso tempo

Abstract

The purpose of this article is analysing critically TV programs taking as reference Walter Benjamin’s studies about art and the raising of mass culture in the early/beginning of XX century, which antecipated matters such as the effects of massive culture over individual’s subjectivity and their hability of discernment. This article traces a comparative analysis between that context and the present scenario, exemplifying through some TV programs, problems such as alienation, violence showed as spectacle (distorted approach), sensationalism and welfarism.
