Abstract

This article discusses the current political moment and its relation with the religiousfreedom. It introduces the evolution of the legal system and how the principles ofequality, tolerance and secularism based relations between so strong institutions inthe country.Because of recent events, it was chosen to focus on the issue of religious educationin public schools, in a recent visit to the Vatican the President Luis Inácio da Silvaon behalf of Brazilian government, signed an agreement regulating the relations ofBrazil with the Holy See and it includes the religious approach, so pluralistic,religious education in public schools in Brazil.The text then describes the route mapped out by the institutions and gradual socialreaction within a theme that will always be controversial.
