Methodological challenges of research on young people in contemporary Brazil

Abstract

This article brings to discussion the methodological challenges faced inresearches which the object of study is the contemporary Brazilian youth. In thisanalysis there are many targets to approach the challenges of (1) to define theresearch object when approaching youth; (2) to define who is eligible to beconsidered young to be researched; (3) to approach youth in singular and plural;(4) to define the role of consume in the identity constitution of the young people;(5) to understand the political participation in the public sphere and (6) to closewith a reflexion about the concept of social classes.
