Keywords:
Social Representation, School, FamilyAbstract
The objective of this paper is to study the social representations of students’ parents about school. The research is based on the Social Representation Theory (SRT) proposed by Serge Moscovici in 1961. The data was obtained in a Public School of São Paulo State, from 12 parents who studied in the same school in which their children are enrolled at the moment. These parents were asked to fill out two questionnaires. In the first one, they had to draw a picture about the theme “school” and in the second they answered some questions regarding the picture. The data was analyzed based on the thematic content analysis. Three key-topics about “school” were analyzed : “General View”, “Socialization Space” and “Conflict, Confrontation and Conquest”. The results showed the valorization of the school in the past, considered of better quality, awakening nostalgic feelings.Downloads
