A handy-mum also recently revealed how she and her sister transformed a chipped TV cabinet into an outdoor piece, using paint from Bunnings and Kmart accessories.

The woman from Perth, Western Australia, shared two photos showing the cabinet before and after.

'My sister and I tackled this TV cabinet yesterday and today! A lot of hours worth of sanding and painting but all worth it! Styled with the books & rattan tray from Kmart,' she wrote on Facebook.

She explained that they started by wiping it down and used a Ryobi orbital sander to prepare the surface before painting it with British paints 4 in 1 white primer.

The sisters then painted the cabinet with Taubmans Endure matt white interior wall -paint and used the Feast Watson matt clear varnish.

They decorated the cabinet with books and a rattan tray from Kmart as well as two $2 seagrass mats from Bunnings which they attached to hooks on the door.

'With the home isolation most of us have some extra time on our hands so why not give upcycling a go and do some of your old furniture up with your Kmart decor. It is a good way to try and keep your mind off things,' she said.

She also revealed that the sanding took them three hours while the painting took an additional four.
