Actor Michael Medwin dies aged 96

British actor Michael Medwin, best known for his role as radio station boss Don Satchley in the BBC detective series Shoestring, died in a Bournemouth hospital yesterday at the age of 96.

Medwin, who also played Scrooge's nephew in the film adaptation of A Christmas Carol, debuted his career on stage in 1940.

He appeared in films alongside Michael Caine, tour đi thái lan Albert Finney and Sean Connery.

Lindsay Anderson's film If.... (1968), Charlie Bubbles (1968), Spring and Port Wine (1970) and O Lucky Man! (1973) are among the films Medwin produced. 

He was born in London in 1923 and educated in Dorset and Switzerland before being trained at the Italia Conti Academy in London.

Share Medwin was made an OBE in 2005 for his services to drama. 

He married Sunny Sheila Black in 1960. The pair divorced 11 years later in 1971.

The actor began his Shoemaker role in 1979, with the BBC drama running for two series until 1980. 

His final roles on screen included appearing as a speechmaker in The Duchess, Carruthers in the TV series Heartbeat and Dr Louie Farraday in Framed. 

David Pugh, who formed a theatrical production company with Medwin in 1988, wrote on Twitter: 'To Michael thank you for tour đi thái lan everything I'm going to miss you so much'.
