How to Clean Dirty Canvas Shoes and Make them Look New
Are you a proud owner of a pair of go-to ‘beater’ shoes that carry you through the day?And without questioning their loyalty, you just put them on without a second thought!

We all have a pair of shoes that diligently serve as our partners in enduring the harshest brunt of life. While they are exceptionally formed to the contours of your feet, they have also lived in that vibe of wear for months, maybe years.
But with the comfort and ease that they offer also comes a hitch – the trouble of cleaning them! Canvas shoes are made of cotton and thus are easily prone to getting dirty. One walk around the park and your brand new pair looks ages old. So, all you can offer them in return for their loyalty is to show them some love.

A proper cleaning routine is what you need to follow. When cleaning your dirty canvas shoes, you need to be patient and work with a gentle hand to make them look new. This way you can give them a run for their lifespan and money, without damaging them.
The good news is that cleaning canvas shoes is relatively simple. You can either wash your shoes manually or use a washing machine.

Continue scrubbing until there are no traces of dirt. Rinse them with clean warm water.

Ball up some paper towels and stuff them inside your shoes. This helps preserve the shape of the shoes.

Set your shoes out in the sun and allow them to dry for 3 to 4 hours.
In order to preserve the shape of your shoes as they dry, ball up some newspaper or paper towel and stuff it inside the shoes.
Additional Tips
Never put your shoes in the dryer, as this destroys their soles and also damages the dryer. Instead, air-dry them under the sun.
Do not use a bleaching agent, especially if you have colored canvas sneakers. This may cause yellow discoloration of your shoes. It is advisable to carry out a small patch test with your cleaning mixture to ensure that it does not fade the color.
For shoes with leather detailing, it is best to use leather cleaner and clean the shoes as directed.
Toothpaste treatment is only advised for white canvas, as it may leave a white patch on colored canvas.
Ball up some paper towels or just a small towel and use it to fill the inside of shoes. This helps protect the shape of your shoes.
If you have sweaty feet, you would probably like to deodorize! Leave some dryer sheets or sprinkle some baking soda on the side of your shoes, as these help in absorbing any odors.
For machine washing, you may place the shoes in delicate washable bags or even a pillowcase tied at the top. This not only helps protect your shoes but also safeguards your washing machine from getting pummeled.
