Referring to the case of the disputes between the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God and the World Church of God’s Power in the first half of 2012, the paper studies the dimension of the spectacle and the cultural market in the religious media. Through an exploratory research of the major scandals and disputes involving churches and religious leaders in the media in recent decades, the study seeks (1) to locate the phenomenon of the spectacle of faith as a marketing strategy in response to competition, which also includes the visibility through conflicts; (2) to indicate ways that prompt further investigationsDownloads
