The Blade Runner movie as an expression of the searching for meaning in life

Recently cinema has become a resource source for studying the religious phenomenon and religious experience. Movies can vehicle religious content, some explicitly, others with a religious substance. Cinema can present such elements as representation or expression. It is in this last possibility that the present article is presented: it aims to present Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner movie as an expression of the search for meaning in life, a theme that is very important to the religious experience. The article has the following structure: in the introduction, some considerations about cinema and religion, broadly speaking, followed by a presentation of the matrix that inspired the movie, and after that, an exposition of its plot and its technical elements. After this, it will be presented some considerations about the issue of transhumanism and some reflections on the search for meaning in life in Blade Runner.
