Abstract

In this text, some points are presented for reflection on preservation actions, organization and public availability of funds and series within the Museu do Índio (Museum of the Indian). These reflections are based on research on the documentation produced by the “Comissão Rondon” ("Rondon Commission"), in different media and languages. Strategies and assemblies for the constitution of the collections and the museum are discussed, inquiring about the guidelines for the preservation and organization of testimonies. In addition, it seeks to evaluate the relations established between past and collections in different historical conjunctures, accompanying commemorative movements and diverse forms of affirmation of a hegemonic memory on the Comissão Rondon and the Rondon character.
