In this article, we analyse one of the manuscripts of the Catalan textual tradition of the Book of Deeds, that is, the MS. 10121 of the Biblioteca Nacional de España. This manuscript presents the life of the king James I of Aragon (1208-1276), one of the most known kings of the territorial context of the Crown of Aragon. From the manuscript’s epigraphical and palaeografical informations, and from methodological proposes of the epigraphic and palaeographic science, we will try to establish the context of composition of the manuscript, mainly considering the symbolical characteristics of it. For this, we will consider the studies of several authors, for example, Eliza Ruiz, Robert Favreau, Gimeno Blay, Ramsay MacMullen e Marc Mayer. Our conclusion is that the symbolical aspects present in this document should be considered as principal in order to understand the motive of this composition, that is, from an interdisciplinary perspective.Downloads
