THE VIÇOSA FEDERAL UNIVERSITY RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE BRAZILIAN MILITARY REGIME

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the relations of the Viçosa Federal University with the military regime. The hypothesis developed here suggests that the model of modernization of agriculture aspired to in university - since the most remote times in the history of the institution - had great convergence with the conception of the conservative modernization elaborated by the military in its governments. This point of dialogue, therefore, paved the way for a posture of adherence of the academic leadership of the university in Viçosa toward the developed policies of the military regime.
