It was an approach on the health conditions of the working class in Brazil in contemporary capitalism anchored in the Marxist perspective. This study used two stages. The first rescues Engels’ analysis of the health conditions of the working class in England in 1845, highlighting the relationship between work-illness. The second, reviews scientific articles on the SIBI-USP portal that deal with the subject today. After that, an analysis of the affinities-antagonisms between Engels and the present day was elaborated. Finally, more than a socio-historical event restricted to the past, the “murder” of the working class persists with other characteristics today.
