Abstract

The theme of “droughts” gained a critical fortune in Northeast Brazil, as it managed to establish itself as an object of study due to its natural and social dimension, thus constituting itself as a historiographical problem. In this regard, memory repertoires were built on different documentary supports, cases and chronologies, public policies, technical and scientific investments and articulations between the regional and the global that gave evidence to human dilemmas in terms of work, mobility and health. It is in function of this scope that this brief incursion is carried out, understanding that the study on droughts can still stimulate reflections within the scope of a History of the Sertões.
