Abstract

The Mexican Revolution as an autonomous process became a model for many Latin-American countries to carry out progressive, democratic and popular policies. This allowed, in certain cases, the vertiginous rise of emerging urban classes to different spheres of power and inside the most representative political parties. It also made possible the promotion of measures that benefited the working class, including the right to go on strike, the generation of a system of prevention and assistance, and the support to new labor, student and farmer movements. This paper explains the influence the Mexican Revolution had in the labor and union movements in Colombia.
