A movie goes to medicine: The universe described by Benedito Junqueira Duarte’s scientific cinema.

Abstract

The objective of this article is to argue about the main characteristics of the scientific films carried by the critic and movie maker Benedito Junqueira Duarte. Through its production, which was dedicated mainly to the medicine and the cardiac surgery it looks to argue some parameters that can serve us to think about the thematic of science and technology and its insertion in our society. This debate will be organized by the evaluation of director’s texts and by the film "Uma escola de médicos", produced in 1963 at São Paulo about the Escola Paulista de Medicina.
