Abstract

Analysis of oaths taken by Brazilian federal deputies throughout history, with the aim of reflecting on the deontological bases of political representation. Qualitative, documentary, bibliographic and explanatory research, using a comparative method and an instrument for critical analysis of language and discourse. Results confirm the elitist nature of the Brazilian political system and, as main expectations in relation to parliamentary work: respect and ensure respect for the Constitution; develop appropriate public policies; guarantee national sovereignty; act diligently.

PhD in Political Science and Sociology at iESP-Uerj (Brazil), in January 2011. Master in International Relations and Contemporary Political from the University of Westminster - Centre for Studies of Democracy (2003); Master in Communication from the University of Brasilia (1997) and a degree in Social Communication - Journalism from the University of Brasilia (1994). Legislative analyst (civil servant)- House of Representatives - workings as a journalist and professor at the Masters in Legislature (Cefor). Experience in the area of Political Science and Journalism, acting on the following themes: democracy, media / politics, political participation and representation.
