Abstract

The present study aims to describe the treatment of patients with burns, after the publication of ordinances GM 1273/MS and GM 1274/MS 2000, its legitimacy from 2002, its complexity and the financial amounts allocated by the Federal Government on 2002-2010 period. Concerning to methodology, the data were obtained through the DATASUS’ platform related to the number of AIHs, the financing for the period 2002 to 2010, the total number of hospitals, the number of the ICU admissions and outside the ICU, the average hospitalization time and death rates. The main conclusion of this study was the largest concentration of trading volume in the south and southeast of the country, lack of access to care in other geographic areas and more volume of investment in the sector. Finally, considerations are made about these empirical data and suggestions for further research.
