After a brief presentation of Karl Marx's position on international trade, we discuss the evolution of the Chinese-American trade balance, according to which the United States is apparently losing. Next, we propose two methods of measuring unequal exchange between thesecountries, one considering the work content directly incorporated into the “exchanged” goods, and the other focusing on their international value, using input and output tables, which show that the United States really win. A sectoral analysis indicates an erosion of the US advantage, that is, that they gain in the exchange, but less and less. Finally, we examine the challenge to global hegemony to grasp what the United States has to offer the world.
